Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how ecokeeper ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
If you sign in or create an account, the App stores your email address. Your email address is obtained through Auth0 and stored in our database to authenticate and manage your account.
1.2 Garden Location Information (Optional)
If you choose to enter latitude and longitude coordinates in the App, these values are stored in our database. The App does not automatically collect location data; only coordinates you manually provide are stored.
1.3 IP Addresses (Ephemeral)
Your IP address may be temporarily stored in memory (Redis) for rate limiting and to help prevent misuse. IP addresses are not stored permanently and are not used for tracking or profiling.
1.4 Images, Journal Photos, and Device Permissions
The App may request camera or photo-library access only if you choose to capture or select an image. Those permissions allow the App to access images you intentionally choose and can be managed through your device settings.
Journal photos that you add to gardens, sections, or plants are stored locally on your device in app-managed storage. In the current production App, those journal photos are not uploaded to our servers as part of the journal feature.
If you intentionally submit an image for a sunlight-reading feature, that image is transmitted to our API and processed to generate the requested reading. In the current production App, we do not store those reading-estimate images in our database or use them for advertising or model training.
2. Error and Performance Monitoring
The App uses Sentry to collect error and performance data. Sentry may receive information such as device type, operating system, app version, and technical details related to an error. Sentry does not intentionally collect sensitive personal data.

3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate your account
- Provide core App functionality
- Process images you intentionally submit for sunlight analysis
- Store local journal-photo metadata needed on your device
- Improve reliability and performance
- Prevent abuse and protect the service
We do not sell or rent your personal information and do not share it for advertising or marketing purposes.
4. Data Sharing
We may share information only in the following cases:
- With service providers such as Sentry for error monitoring
- When required by law, regulation, or legal process
5. Data Retention
We keep account and operational information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
Local journal photos remain on your device until you delete them, remove the App, or otherwise clear device storage. Images intentionally submitted to the current production sunlight-reading feature are processed for that request and are not stored in our production database as part of that feature.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Your Choices
You may choose not to grant camera or photo-library permissions.
You may delete local journal photos from the App or from your device at any time. You may also request deletion of your account and associated server-side data by contacting us at support@ecokeeper.app.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Effective Date at the top of this page will be updated when changes occur. Your continued use of the App after any changes means you accept the revised policy.
